The location:

Horben im Southern Black Forest Nature Park borders Freiburg to the south and is located east of the Hexental on a high plateau on the western slope of the SchauinslandMassif between the Illenberg (642 m) and the Eduardshöhe (859 m).drawbar drill, further on from Günterstal: Hölderlebach), and the Selzenbach. The upper reaches of these streams and the valleys of the same name are part of the district, which drops down to a height of around 400 m.

Horben offers a wide all-round view of the Schauinsland, the Schönberg, the Rhine plain, the Kaiserstuhl, the Vosges and the city of Freiburg. The town and landscape of Horben, which is located in a landscape conservation area of the same name, is largely characterized by Black Forest farms. Due to the proximity to the city of Freiburg, new development areas have emerged in the districts of Dorf, Langackern and Bohrer.
